STUDIO
CHARLOTTE KRELLE
Founded by Charlotte Krelle, the studio is built on her background in Interior Architecture from the University of Technology Sydney, further shaped by studies at the American Academy in Paris and a Master’s degree from École Camondo—one of France’s most prestigious design schools, internationally recognised for producing leaders in the field.
Professional experience includes working with several leading design practices, most notably with Thierry Lemaire in Paris, one of France’s most iconic interior designers, renowned for luxury residential interiors and furniture, and with Luchetti Krelle in Sydney, an award-winning architecture and interior design firm focused on hospitality projects. Both studios operate internationally, providing extensive experience in delivering projects across the globe.
With a background spanning Paris and Sydney, the practice draws on both European elegance and Antipodean spatial freedom. This duality informs a design language that marries the contemporary with the timeless, and the spontaneous with the refined, while always prioritising the context of landscapes and the heritage of each space.
Studio Carapace is a multidisciplinary practice founded by Charlotte Krelle, working across interior architecture, collectible furniture and art direction. The studio approaches design as the meeting point of architecture and art, where space, object and material are treated with equal intent.
Form, proportion and materiality drive the process. Geometry is used as structure and as sculpture, while rich surfaces and crafted details bring depth and tactility. The work often explores contrast: weight and softness, precision and warmth, restraint and expression, to create environments with strong identity and spatial clarity.
The studio collaborates closely with artisans and specialist manufacturers, with the furniture collection currently in prototyping and produced in France using both traditional and experimental techniques.
